Hand- drawn poster honouring Kings of Leon, composed of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill, and their cousin Matthew Followill formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1999.
In this drawing we go back in time to the boys' childhood, with all members on a carousel, an ode to the nostalgia of them playing together as kids.
The familial bond of the band is strong, their name has been taken directly from their grandfather, who was named Leon, their unifying force.
Leon, a classic name originating from the word leo, meaning “lion”, symbolizes strength, royalty, and pride.
Such family heritage has been represented here as the band members both as the four lions in the ride and as the four kings, tucked in the ride's roof, Caleb being the king of hearts, the main songwriter who doesn't shy away from showing deep feelings and singing about pure passion.
Indeed, it's not rare to hear in Kings of Leon's putting in words emotions of inner reflection and knowing oneself. To show this freedom of thought and letting go from impending darkness, the lions are breaking free from their destiny and setting off into the stars.
This plays tribute to their song "With The Moon I Run" from their fourth studio album “Only By The Night”.
The carousel also happens to be amongst the clouds up in the sky, inspired by the lyrics of their most famous single, “Use Somebody" - “always looking down" and "the places I can't reach".
This is the single that broke many records in the UK, where the band first conquered hearts and got people up their seats in pubs. This fame in Britain is pictured here with another carousel icon, the infamous spinning teacup, but also a staple of British life.
