Hand-drawn poster honouring FOALS, a British rock band formed in Oxford in 2005. The band's current line-up consists of Yannis Philippakis, Jack Bevan and Jimmy Smith.

The name of the band comes from a play on words based on lead vocalist and guitarist Yannis Philippakis name's etymology. It is derived from philo, which means 'love' and 'hippos, which means horse.
The ending of the singer's name is 'akis,' which is a diminutive or pet name. Combine the two and you can see how they got to a 'small horse' or foal, its sea cousin takes centre stage in the illustration.

The band recently delighted their fans with their latest album Life is Yours which was written in lockdown. They dealt with the negative atmosphere by writing music that felt escapist and joyful, but also hopeful for the future.

This inspired the dreamlike environment of the illustration, underwater with fish instruments gracefully swimming around them.

In the drawing FOALS are seen playing on top of the Bridge of Sigh, an iconic landmark from Oxford, the city where they are from.
The centuries-old windows of the legendary attraction have been redesigned to hold the band's name.

The trio give value to positivity and being close to nature, this is represented here with the stars, which are mentioned in their song Hummer, are featured both on the pattern of the seahorse and the starfish below the bridge.
